At Hope Health & Care Services, we provide direct support services to children and young people living in Out of Home Care (OOHC) and other regulated care environments in New South Wales (NSW), operating in full compliance with the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) framework. Our experienced, thoroughly screened and child safe trained staff deliver personalised, trauma informed and culturally sensitive support that prioritises the safety, wellbeing and best interests of every child and young person in our care.

What Are OCG Services?

The Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) is a NSW Government regulatory body responsible for overseeing the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in regulated care settings in New South Wales. This includes children in Out of Home Care (OOHC), residential care, kinship care and other statutory care arrangements under the NSW Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998.

As a provider operating under the OCG framework, Hope Health & Care Services delivers direct disability and personal support services to children and young people in OOHC and other regulated care environments in NSW. Our services are focused on the direct care, wellbeing and support of each child or young person – not on compliance auditing

Please note: OCG services and the OCG regulatory framework are specific to New South Wales (NSW). For child protection related supports in Queensland (QLD) and Victoria (VIC), we provide Out of Home Care and child protection related supports under the relevant state frameworks – Child Safety in QLD and Child Protection in VIC.

Trauma Informed Practice

All our staff working with children and young people in OOHC are trained in trauma‑informed care, understanding the impact of trauma, attachment disruption and adverse childhood experiences on behaviour, wellbeing and development.

We understand that consistency and stability are critical for children and young people in OOHC. We work hard to ensure children have consistent, familiar support workers they know and trust, reducing disruption and supporting positive attachment.

We work closely with DCJ caseworkers, foster and kinship carers, residential care staff, NDIS Support Coordinators and allied health professionals to ensure a fully coordinated, team‑based approach to every child’s care.

Who We Support Under the OCG Framework

Our OCG services are available to children and young people in NSW who are:

Living in Out of Home Care (OOHC) placements including foster, kinship and residential care
Participants of the NDIS with disability related support needs alongside their child protection involvement
Children and young people transitioning between care placements who require consistent, stable support
Young people transitioning from OOHC to independence (aged 16–18 and beyond)
Children and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds requiring culturally responsive support

Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) – NSW
NDIS Worker Screening Clearance - where the child is an NDIS participant
Completion of child-safe training and mandatory reporting training
Training in trauma-informed practice and culturally safe support
Regular supervision, performance reviews and ongoing professional development
